On Friday, we shared information about a rumor of a threat to Milliken Middle School. After an investigation by our school and law enforcement, we determined that the threat was not credible. However, at school today the student who was the focus of Friday’s investigation allegedly made threatening comments about the school district to other students. We involved the Milliken Police Department right away and disciplinary action has been taken. The student has been removed from school. Milliken police continue to investigate and assess the situation.
While we don’t believe that any students were in danger related to the threat alleged today, we take every threat seriously and involve law enforcement in every instance. Beyond disciplinary action taken by our school, law enforcement may pursue prosecution. They do not tolerate behavior that threatens to endanger people in the community.
Today, across our country, we join those who are morning the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. Our hearts go out to the city of Las Vegas and everyone impacted by this terrible tragedy.
